Barry Town United lift the U16 Girls Cup

Barry Town United lifted the FAW U16 Girls Cup following a 2-0 victory over Villa Dino Christchurch at Leckwith Stadium in Cardiff.

The two sides currently sit second and first respectively in the South Wales Women and Girls League U16 table. Their previous meeting this season, a 3-3 draw, was one of the few occasions either has dropped points.

However, on this occasion it was advantage Barry Town United, who took the lead in the tie after just six minutes.

Sian Rees had spotted Villa Dino Christchurch goalkeeper Zara Mujica off her line and intuitively sent a lobbed shot from outside the box into the back of the net.

Rees doubled the lead before half-time when she rounded off some nice play to make it 2-0.

Villa Dino Christchurch did all they could in the second half to overturn the deficit but Barry Town United managed to keep their opponents out to lift the trophy.
