Huw Jones of Llanrhaeadr ym Mochnant has been appointed as the match referee for the 130th JD Welsh Cup Final at Bangor University Stadium, Bangor on Sunday, 30 April.

BALA TOWN v THE NEW SAINTS

Jones will be in charge as Bala Town and The New Saints go head-to-head and will be assisted by Phil Thomas (Rhondda) and Ian Bird (Port Talbot). Meanwhile, David Morgan of Swansea has been appointed as the 4th official.

“Huw Jones has been a mainstay of the Welsh Premier League for many seasons,” said Ray Ellingham, the FAW’s Referees Manager. “Huw fully deserves the honour of taking charge of the 130th Welsh Cup Final. He has proved himself to be on of the most consistent referees both domestically and internationally.”

Jones started refereeing in the Montgomeryshire Amateur League in 1998. He was quick to progress to the Mid Wales League and then went on to officiate in the Huws Gray Alliance League before being promoted on to the Welsh Premier League Supplementary list in 2002.

In 2009, Jones was promoted to the FIFA Referee List and took charge of matches in the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

This will be the second occasion that Jones has officiated a Welsh Cup Final, as he was the man in the middle for the 2009 encounter between Bangor City and Aberystwyth Town.
