The Football Association of Wales is pleased to announce that the Women’s National Team will play an international friendly against New Zealand on Tuesday, 4 June.
International Challenge Match
Wales v New Zealand
- Tuesday 4 June
- KO 19:00 GMT
- Cardiff International Sports Stadium
This will be Wales’ second ever match against New Zealand. The first match between the two sides was played out in Switzerland in June 2011 when the Ferns beat a Wales team featuring current internationals Sophie Ingle, Jess Fishlock and Helen Ward by two goals to nil.
Wales manager Jayne Ludlow will see the Ferns, ranked 19th in the world as the ideal test ahead of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2021 qualifying campaign which begins in August. Wales have been drawn against the Norway, Belarus Northern Ireland and the Faroe Islands. The New Zealand fixture will be Wales’ final match before the qualifying campaign begins.
New Zealand, coached by Tom Sermanni, will see the match as the ideal preparation for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup which starts three days later in France. New Zealand have been drawn against Canada, Cameroon and the Netherlands in the group stages.
The match will take place at the Cardiff International Sports Stadium with a 19:00 kick off time. Tickets will go on sale on Monday 1 April on faw.cymru/tickets.
