U17 SQUAD ANNOUNCED FOR UEFA ELITE ROUND IN RUSSIA

Wales set to play Austria, Iceland and Russia in Elite Round of the UEFA European U17 Championships.

Wales set to play Austria, Iceland and Russia in Elite Round of the UEFA European U17 Championships.

The Wales U17 squad has been announced for the UEFA European U17 Championship Elite Round that is to be held in Russia later this month.

Wales progressed from the Qualifying Round of this competition having finished third in Group 13 and being amongst the top five third-placed teams with the best record against the top pair in their group.

Intermediate Teams Assistant Coach David Hughes, will lead the team to Krasnodar in Russia for the Elite Round where the young Dragons will come up against Iceland, Austria and hosts Russia.

The squad that will travel to Russia is as follows:

Eight groups make up the UEFA European U17 Championship Elite Round and with 16 teams now competing in the final tournament, double the previous figure, the number of qualifying spots available in this round has expanded from seven to 15.

The eight group winners and the seven runners-up with the best record against the teams first and third in their group, will qualify to join hosts Bulgaria in the finals that will be held from 6 to 22 May 2015.
