UEFA Champions League Legendary Trophy Journey

The UEFA Champions League Semi-Final draw takes place at UEFA HQ in Nyon on Friday at 11:00 BST. A delegation from Wales will be present at the draw to officially receive the UEFA Champions League Trophy and bring it back to Cardiff, ready for the Final at the National Stadium of Wales on 3 June.

The semi-final draw takes place at UEFA HQ, Nyon from 11:00 BST on Friday, 21 April.

  • Monaco (France)
  • Real Madrid (Spain)

When the UEFA Champions League Trophy arrives in Cardiff during the afternoon of Friday 21 April, there will be a procession from Cardiff Castle to the National Stadium of Wales, providing the first chance for everyone to see the Trophy before it embarks on the UCL Wales Trophy Experience across the country.

The delegation from Wales includes Carwyn Jones (First Minister of Wales), David Griffiths (FAW President), Jonathan Ford (FAW CEO) and UEFA Champions League Final 2017 Ambassador Ian Rush.

The delegation will depart Cardiff Airport at 6:30am on Friday and you will be able to follow coverage of the UEFA Champions League Legendary Trophy Journey throughout the day across FA Wales and UEFA Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. 

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE LEGENDARY TROPHY JOURNEY

(British Summer Time)

  • 06:30 -  Delegation from Wales depart Cardiff Airport for UEFA HQ, Nyon.
  • 10:00 -  Arrival at UEFA HQ for UEFA Champions League Semi-Final Draw. 
  • 11:00 -  UEFA Champions League Semi-Final Draw Begins.
  • 11:30 -  UEFA Champions League Semi-Final Draw Ends.
  • 12:30 -  Delegation and UCL Trophy board the plane at Geneva Airport.
  • 15:00 -  Delegation and UCL Trophy arrive at Cardiff Airport.
  • 16:45 -  Ian Rush begins the Trophy procession from Cardiff Castle. A road closure will be in place. The procession will proceed down High Street, onto Guildhall Street before crossing Westgate Street and entering the National Stadium of Wales through Gate 4.
  • 17:10 -  Official handover of the UCL and UWCL Trophies to the National Stadium of Wales at pitch side.
