By Air

Close to Cardiff city is Cardiff Airport offering national and international flights. Cardiff is also served by nearby International airports in Bristol and Birmingham. London’s many international airports are also easily accessible. 

  • Cardiff Airport is 12 miles/ 19 km from the City Centre. Independent travellers can take advantage of direct local bus services to the City, including the T9 express service providing regular services. Alternatively, Rhoose Rail Station is a short shuttle bus ride from the Airport for onward trains to Cardiff Central Station. Independent travellers are advised to visit www.traveline.cymru to find out more about travel into the centre of Cardiff.
  • Bristol Airport is 49 miles/ 79 km to Cardiff.  The best public transport options for independent travellers are to book a Coach direct to Cardiff, or transfer by local bus to Bristol Temple Meads or Bristol Parkway Rail Stations for onward travel. 
  • Birmingham Airport is 115 miles/ 185 km to Cardiff.  The best public transport options for independent travellers are to book a Coach or take the short shuttle to Birmingham International Rail Station for onward train travel.
  • London.  London Heathrow is the nearest of London’s airports to Cardiff The best public transport options for independent travellers are to book a Coach or by train via the Heathrow Express to London Paddington Station for onward train travel to Cardiff Central Station. By Train

Trains from Europe on Eurostar arrive into London St Pancras in London. Then take London’s Underground to London Paddington for the onward train journey to Cardiff.  Book your Eurostar travel here and your onward journey from London Paddington to Cardiff Central Station here

Cardiff Central Station is the City’s main station and is located a short walk from the City Centre, is adjacent to the National Stadium of Wales as well as many of the City’s other main attractions. There are excellent rail links to Cardiff Central Station from across the UK. For example, if you are travelling from London the journey normally takes just over 2 hours as it does from Birmingham.

By Car

Cardiff is located on the M4 motorway and is about 100 miles/ 160 kms from London. The M4 motorway includes a toll bridge crossing at the River Severn where a one-way westbound charge is payable, more information on costs can be found here.

The motorways and road to and from Cardiff in the build up to and during the Event will be busier than usual and you should allow extra time for your journey. Please visit Traffic England on information on the roads.
