Archers out to defend Women's Welsh Cup

The nine clubs from the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League will focus on the Women's Welsh Cup this weekend with 16 ties taking place across the country on Sunday (2pm).

Holders and last season's undefeated domestic treble winners Cardiff Met make the short journey to league rivals Cyncoed. The Archers lifted the trophy last season with a 2-0 win over Abergavenny in the final.

Meanwhile, Cardiff City and will look to continue their perfect start to the season against Briton Ferry Llansawel, while Swansea City will be also out to maintain the same record against Dafen. Port Talbot Town travel to Swansea University, Corwen host Llandudno, Abergavenny make the journey to Merthyr Town, and the domestic top-flight interest is completed by Aberystwyth Town taking on Cascade.

Outside of the Orchard Welsh Premier Women's League, Barry Town United will be keen to show their future intentions against Cardiff Bluebirds, while another ambitious outfit in Connah's Quay Nomads will look to show their top-flight credentials against Pwllheli.

The action is completed by Coed Duon Dragons taking on Cardiff Bluebelles, Penybont hosting Caldicot Town and Tredegar Town meeting Aberdare. Bethel, Denbigh Town, Llanfair United, Rhyl are also home to Airbus UK Broughton, Northop Hall Girls, Amlwch Town and Wrexham respectively.

The action began last month in the opening qualifying round as Connah's Quay Nomads claimed a comfortable 6-2 win away to Llanberis. Elsewhere, Swansea University were never in trouble against Newport City in a 5-0 victory, and Cardiff Bluebirds eased themselves into the current round of fixtures with a 13-0 win over Baglan BGC.
