Four points in the remaining two qualifiers (with the first match away to Greece on Friday 2 September) will secure a play-off place for the first time in the side’s history. Off the pitch, an ambitious target of 10,000 supporters has been set, double the current attendance record, as Grainger and the players are hoping the Red Wall can help to push them over the line.
With discounts on group bookings starting at only £2 for children, schools across the country are being encouraged to get involved and be part of the Red Wall on what will be a special night. PE teacher and former Cymru international Gwennan Harries has already set the bar, with Ysgol Glantaf purchasing more than 400 tickets for the school. Students in years 7 and 12 will be attending the match as part of their first day back in school activities.
For any schools that wish to purchase group tickets, the group booking form is available to download as a PDF or Word document, with prices at £2 for juniors and £6 for adults (minimum purchase of 10 tickets).
There is such a huge buzz around Welsh football at the moment and in particular their connection with the Welsh language, so we are really excited that we can get so many of our students to attend the game and support the team in such an important game. We feel it’s a fantastic way for all the pupils, boys and girls, to make new friends on their very first day at Ysgol Glantaf. The number of girls attending the football club in school increases every year, and hopefully this trend will continue after they have watched these amazing role models at a packed Cardiff City Stadium.
