A 31-player squad has been selected for Cymru’s opening World Cup Qualifying matches and international friendly at the end of March.

CYMRU v CZECH REPUBLIC

The Cymru Men’s squad will be back in action for the first time in 2021 following their stellar performance in the UEFA Nations League and subsequent promotion to League A.

Joe Allen returns to the fold for the first time since the end of 2019 after recovering from an ankle injury which kept him out of last year’s UEFA Nations League campaign.

Returning to the squad once again is Cymru’s most-capped goalkeeper, Wayne Hennessey, after an injury he sustained in our away match in Bulgaria meant that he was unavailable during the November international window. Hal Robson-Kanu also returns to the fold after a broken wrist kept him away from the latter games of the Nations League campaign.

With the focus now turning to the World Cup Qualifiers, a larger than usual squad has been announced to cope with the tight run of fixtures. Cymru will face familiar foes Belgium away in Leuven for the group’s opening match on Wednesday 24 March before travelling to Cardiff to face Mexico in a friendly match on Saturday 27 March. The World Cup Qualifiers then resume on Tuesday 30 March as we welcome the Czech Republic to Cardiff City Stadium.

Robert Page will take charge of the team for the upcoming three matches, supported by Albert Stuivenberg.
