Edwards announces squad for UEFA U17s Qualifying Round

U17s manager Rob Edwards has named his squad to take part in this month’s UEFA U17s 2019 European Qualification Tournament.

UEFA U17 2019 QUALIFYING ROUND

KO times UK time, matches played in Portugal

Belarus v Wales (10/10/18 14:00)

Kazakhstan v Wales (13/10/18 14:00)

Portugal v Wales (16/10/18 16:00)

The 20-player squad out to Portugal where they will face Belarus, Kazakhstan and the hosts between 8-17 October. This will be Edwards' first qualifying campaign with the squad, most of whom were involved in the Telki Cup in August where Wales lost against the Czech Republic and Croatia but had a 2-2 draw against hosts Hungary.

With Wales in Group 11, the 13 group winners, the 13 runners-up and the four best third-placed teams in the qualifying round play the elite round.

We saw a game by game improvement from the side out in Hungary which can only be a positive. We know what worked and what didn't work. We're up against three powerful sides in this tournament and we're not expecting any easy games. It'll be a tough test but we're prepared and ready.
