The Football Association of Wales Annual General Meeting for the Consideration of the Rules took place today (27 May) at The Vale Resort, Hensol in the Vale of Glamorgan.
Members were presented with seven Proposals to amend the Rules for the forthcoming 2022/23 season. The FAW Rules defines a Member as a Qualifying Club, National League, Area Association or Councillor that has been admitted into membership of the Association by the Directors.
175 Members were eligible to vote at the general meeting, with two-thirds of those voting needing to vote in favour of a proposal for it to be carried.
All seven proposals were passed by the Members, including ‘Proposal 5 – Section H – Rules 59, 60, 62 and 63’, which contained an amendment to adopt FIFA’s ‘One Player, One Club’ rule.
The FAW has ambitious objectives within Our Wales – the 2021-2026 Strategic Plan for Welsh Football – and is eager to increase participation by providing more opportunities for players to participate in football, whilst also recognising the importance of clear and effective pathways for progression. The amendment to the Rules detailed above will aid the FAW in achieving this strategic aim, whilst also bringing the FAW in line with the FIFA Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players (“RSTP”).
