FAW to showcase iconic match-worn shirts at new exhibition

The Football Association of Wales is delighted to announce the first ever exhibition of Wales football shirts will open at St Fagans National Museum of History from 11 November to 24 November 2019.

The Art of the Wales Shirt

St Fagans Museum, Cardiff

  • Monday 11 November - Sunday 24 November
  • Free entry

The Art of the Wales Shirt – Celf Crys Cymru, in collaboration with official partners JD and adidas, is curated by Neal Heard (@nealheardauthor) and Simon Shakeshaft (@WalesMatchWorn) and will cover 60 years of Welsh football shirt history and feature 28 match-worn shirts, including Len Allchurch, Terry Yorath, Ian Rush and both current Cymru managers, Ryan Giggs and Jayne Ludlow.

Visitors will be able to marvel up-close at a selection of Cymru’s most iconic shirts and learn about the history of the national sides over the decades.

We’re delighted that this exhibition has come to life, chronicling the history of our national sides through the art of the Wales shirt. This exhibition will be accessible to all and housed at the award-winning St Fagans National Museum of History through our partnership with Museum Wales.

The exhibition will take place at St Fagans National Museum of History which was recently named as Art Fund Museum of the Year 2019 – the largest arts award in Britain and the most prestigious museum award in the world.

Admission is free to all and open daily between 10:00 – 17:00.

We’re delighted to host this display of iconic Welsh shirts in partnership with Football Association of Wales. Certain football jerseys can transport you to another time and place and we hope visitors to St Fagans over the next few weeks enjoy this colourful display.
