Foster officiates as Barcelona win UWCL final

Cheryl Foster was in charge of Saturday’s UEFA Women’s Champions League Final as Barcelona came from behind to beat Wolfsburg 3-2 in Eindhoven.

Foster has become the first Welsh referee to take charge of UEFA’s showpiece finale and can now look forward to officiating at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand next month.

Foster earned her FIFA Badge in 2016 and officiated the UEFA EURO 2022 Semi-Final between France and Germany last season.

The UEFA Women’s Champions League Final was an exciting affair after Wolfsburg took a 2-0 lead into half-time with goals from Ewa Pajor and Alexandra Popp.

Barcelona returned to the field and got themselves level within minutes of the restart as Patri Guijarro netted a brace before Fridolina Rolfö scored the winning goal.
