A wonderful Daniel James strike was the difference between Cymru and Belarus at Cardiff City Stadium as Ryan Giggs’ team won their international challenge match 1-0.
Giggs will be pleased with the display that his players put on for the home crowd with Cymru looking in control throughout the encounter to secure back-to-back wins.
The goal came as a result of man of the match Jonny Williams winning possession deep inside his own half to poke the ball to Joe Morrell to set up a one-two.
As Williams received the ball back, he ran it forward and picked out a lovely pass to James, who cut inside the defender and struck the ball into the far side of the goal, beating Maksim Plotnikov with ease.
It was a refreshing performance and Cymru could have added more to their goal tally as Harry Wilson and Kiefer Moore went close with their efforts.
The home crowd were certain of a second when Ben Davies took a quick free kick to release Harry Wilson through into the box but after he squared a pass to Gareth Bale with just the goalkeeper to beat, he sent his shot over the crossbar.
Wales will return to action next month when they visit Trnava to play Slovakia (10 October), followed by a home match against Croatia on 13 October.
