Everyone connected to the Football Association of Wales would like to pass on their thoughts and condolences to the family and friends of Ray Smiles, a former FAW Council Member, who has sadly passed away.
Ray had become an FAW Council Member in 1995 until the 2016/17 season and also served on the Welsh Football League Management Committee, having first joined in 1969. He also became a Life Vice-President of the league.
Ray received an MBE in 2018 for services to football and to young people, as he was synonymous with football in the Garw Valley.
For many decades, Ray devoted his life to his local football club Garw, who currently play in the South Wales Alliance League Premier Division. He is pictured above assisting an injured player whilst attending a match at his beloved Blandy Park.
His hometown club have published the following tribute.
