Robert Page names 28-player squad for upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches
Robert Page has named a 28-player squad to face the Czech Republic and Estonia in October’s FIFA World Cup Qualifying matches.
Cymru captain Gareth Bale is a notable absentee due to an injury he sustained whilst training with his club, Real Madrid. Whilst his absence will be a blow for Page, the opportunity arises for others to be included, with Sorba Thomas earning his first Cymru call-up. The 22-year-old currently plays for Huddersfield Town and was named the Championship’s Player of the Month in August.
After missing out on last camp due to injury, Aaron Ramsey, Connor Roberts and Neco Williams are all back in the squad and available for selection next week. Kieffer Moore is also available once again after missing out on last month’s camp.
Cymru currently sit in third place in Group E equal on points with the Czech Republic who have played 5 games while Cymru have played just 4. Belgium sit comfortably at the top of the group with 16 points from 6 games.
The upcoming away fixture in Prague against the Czech Republic will prove vital in the battle for second place, with Cymru looking forward to welcoming back the Red Wall to away games for the first time in the qualifying campaign.
