Wales’ first match at the Parade will be against Northern Ireland on Tuesday September 3, five days after the side’s opening match away to the Faroe Islands. In April 2020 Wales will host the Faroe Islands and Norway at Rodney Parade as part of what could be a key home double header. Tickets will be going on sale for the Northern Ireland match on Wednesday 29th May at midday on the FAW website.
Rodney Parade has been a record breaker for the Wales team over the last twelve months. Back in August Jayne Ludlow’s side welcomed the largest crowd to a women’s international in Wales as more than 5,000 people attended their World Cup qualifying match against England. More recently in April, the record for most attended friendly was broken as 2,100 fans attended the side’s goalless draw against the Czech Republic.
For us as a national team it’s important that we have the right level of facility at the right time. Right now Rodney Parade is perfect for where we’re at as a nation. The atmosphere there for both the England and Czech Republic matches was phenomenal and we hope that will continue into the next campaign.
Preparations are already underway for Wales’ final match ahead of the UEFA Women’s EURO 2021 qualifying campaign. Captain Sophie Ingle and the rest of the squad welcome New Zealand to the Leckwith Stadium in Cardiff on Tuesday 4 June with more than 1,000 tickets already sold for the match. The match will be seen as an exciting test for Wales against a side competing in this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup and tickets are still available online.
