S4C make their televised pick for JD Welsh Cup Round 3

Trefelin BGC will feature in a live televised match for the first time in their history when they face off against Connah’s Quay Nomads at the end of this month in Round 3 of the JD Welsh Cup.

S4C have chosen the match as their live selection for Round 3 on their flagship football programme, Sgorio.

Trefelin BGC were only promoted from Grassroots football six years ago, in what has been a rapid rise through the leagues under the guidance of manager Richard Ryan. They currently sit in the top half of the JD Cymru South.

After an 8-1 win over Fairwater FC in Round 1, the club were handed a local derby with Briton Ferry Llansawel in Round 2 at the Old Road. In front of a large crowd, Ryan’s men came out 3-0 victors to setup the clash against the JD Cymru Premier champions, who came through unscathed in Round 2 after a 5-0 win over CPD Y Rhyl 1879.

The match will be an historic occasion for the newly promoted Cymru South side, as they prepare for their first ever live televised match, which will be shown live on S4C, as well as Facebook, YouTube and S4C Clic from 12:30pm on 25 September 2021 with a 12:45pm kick off.
