An FAW Disciplinary Panel sat on 26 September to consider a charge against Mike Harris, Chairman of The New Saints FC.
In accordance with paragraph 4.3 of the FAW’s Social Media Regulations, Mr Harris was charged pursuant to the FAW’s Non-Discrimination Regulations under FAW Rule 38.1.1, for his alleged offensive and/or insulting and/or abusive words, which were contemptuous and/or discriminatory and/or denigratory and published from his Twitter account on or around 9 August 2019.
After considering the written and verbal evidence submitted, the Panel decided that the charge against Mr Harris be found proven.
The Panel further decided that Mr Harris should be subject to a Ground Suspension – as defined in the FAW’s Categories of Suspension – for 10 matches in League and Cup competitions. This suspension is wholly suspended and only invoked if Mr Harris is found proven of a similar offence before 1 January 2021.
The Panel also decided that Mr Harris should be fined, half the sum of which shall remain suspended and only invoked if Mr Harris is found proven of a similar offence before 1 January 2021.
Mr Harris may refer this matter to an Appeals Panel of the FAW in accordance with FAW Rules 43.2.3 and 44.1.3.
