The Cardiff City Stadium will host a Cymru U19 match for the first time as part of the #U19EURO 2020 Elite Round.
The tournament, originally scheduled for March, will now be taking place in September. Rob Edwards’ side will face Germany (2 September) and Serbia (5 September) at the Leckwith Stadium, Cardiff, followed by a finale against Austria (8 September) at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Edwards’ side qualified for the Elite Round after topping the Qualifying Round group last November. An impressive squad featuring Neco Williams, Morgan Boyes and Keenan Patten recorded wins against Poland (3-0) and Kosovo (2-0) as well as a 2-2 draw against the group’s top seeds, Russia.
The tournament will be played behind closed doors, in line with the UEFA Executive Committee’s decision in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. UEFA will monitor the situation and advise on any full or partial lifting of restrictions at the appropriate time, which will also adhere to relevant Government guidelines.
